A Beautiful Mind Mike Gadd   borrowed video   05 March 2004 A most enjoyable story. Finely acted as well.

Adaptation Mike Gadd   dvd rental   06 October 2003 I couldn't have enjoyed this movie any more. It picks up in the middle of the best scene from "Being John Malkovich" and continues with a nice mix of 'meta-ness' as Kristen puts it. Excellent camera work and too-lifelike car accidents. I tried explaining to a friend how the movie went and got lost in my story. Certainly not for everyone.

Austin Powers III Mike Gadd   dvd at home   30 March 2003 They still have a formula that has it's moments. I was near tears at times. The sight gags don't do much for me but I loved the more low key humor. I'm amazed this came out with a PG-13 rating. This would have been an R 10 years ago, but times are changing. I even heard the s-word on the USA network last night.

Batman Begins Mike Gadd   Martinsburg Regal (with the 2L size large coke)   19 June 2005 This is what a Batman movie should be like. No goofy comic book campiness. Very dark and human. Things get a little convoluted at the end but that's alright. Christian Bale makes a nice Batman even though it looks like the mask is a little too small for his head.

Batman Begins Mike Gadd   Family Drive-In   31 July 2005 The magic of the drive-in has pretty much worn off. If it was ever there. Initially the uniqueness of the setting and the ability to unashamedly eat chinese take-out made a poor movie not seem so bad. Eventually you realize that sitting in your car to watch a movie isn't everything you'd hope for. Especially if it's raining or muggy out. You can't keep your car running to turn the air on to defog your winshield or run your wipers because the newer cars automatically turn on the headlights. This action is frowned upon. You do get to see 2 movies for your troubles. This one was the first. Needless to say there was much lost in the translation to the outdoor screen.

Behind Enemy Lines Mike Gadd   DVD rental   20 October 2002 Sure wish I had seen this on the big screen. Great action scenes and slow motion bombs and bullets flying.

Bill Cosby:49 Mike Gadd   video rental   06 September 2003 Not as good as his 'Himself' video but still worth seeing. Plenty of belly laughs.

Blood Work Mike Gadd   borrowed video (and quickly returned)   28 November 2003 Poor adaptation of one of Michael Connelly's best. Even with a different ending. How many times are we supposed to look at Clint Eastwood with his shirt off and still stay focused on the movie?

Bruce Almighty Mike Gadd   borrowed dvd   14 February 2004 This movie certainly had its moments. Too bad most of them were covered in the previews.

Castaway Mike Gadd   Borrowed video from somebody (don't remember who)   24 January 2004 A little late to the game on this one. I got it from someone about 2 years ago but we were just a month away from flying to Florida and I had heard about how realistic the plane crash scene was so we held off. Quite the plane crash too. As lifelike as the train crash in 'The Fugitive'. You certainly have to be in the Tom Hanks fan club to enjoy this movie. I kept thinking of the dude in the book 'Adrift' who floated across the Atlantic. He could have been Tom's body double.

Chocolat Mike Gadd   borrowed dvd   11 April 2003 What a delightful movie. Filled with familiar faces to boot. Everyone from the 'bad dates' dude from Indiana Jones to Trinity from The Matrix. It didn't hurt that some Ben and Jerry's Whoopie Pie was being consumed at the time.

Cold Mountain Mike Gadd   Standard theater with 7 other people in it.   26 January 2004 It's hard for me to judge this as a movie. The book is my favorite so I've seen it play out in my head many times. It was interesting to see someone else's point of view. There could be major plot holes that I'm just not going to notice. Some things were done quite well (Ruby, Stobrod and Pangle, the scene with the widow girl and her baby). Others, not so well (Inman on the beach? when did that happen? Ada looking freshly made up after a full day of labor, Teague's character was too close to Ada...) Some of the dialogue I recognized straight from the pages. It remained true enough to the book, which I appreciated. This certainly could have been done a lot worse. Bonus feature- I saw a preview of the next M. Night movie. I'll be there.

Collateral Mike Gadd   dvd rental   05 January 2005 Michael Mann with another visual spectacle. A city drama done right. Nobody does it better. Tom Cruise didn't ruin it either, even with the goofy gray hair.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Mike Gadd   dvd at home   08 May 2003 Only the second subtitled movie I've seen; 'Life is Beautiful' being the first (and worth a ten spot, if anything is), so it took a little while to get used to constantly looking down to read. Sometimes you didn't want to tear your eyes away from the action. I don't know how they kept from lopping off ears and noses with all the swordplay. I can't say I completely understand the end though. Why'd she jump?

Daddy Daycare Mike Gadd   $2 theater   25 July 2003 Take a big bowl and mix one cup each of Mr. Mom, Happy Texas, and Bill Cosby. Add a measure of sappy heart-string pulling and stir for an hour and 43 minutes. Batter will be slightly lumpy.

Disney's Holes Mike Gadd   $2 theater with new armrests with cupholders:Nice!   19 July 2003 This movie does a respectable job of not straying very far from the book. It had a decent story that didn't need hollywood to improve it.

Elf Mike Gadd   $2 theater   18 January 2004 A cute, harmless movie. Several good chuckles. It even had a good rule for life: The gum on the sidewalk, don't eat it. It's not free candy. Fun seeing James Caan in a non serious role.

Enemy at the Gates Mike Gadd   dvd borrowed from Jeff   24 May 2003 How can you screw up a sniper movie? Try to turn it into a love story. It takes all the tension and punch out of it. Jude Law was fine and the scenery looked great, but pick a plot and go with it. Isn't that what made Pearl Harbor so bad?

Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind Mike Gadd   dvd rental   09 August 2005 This! This! This is what I want! I'm going to skip a return to Life Aquatic and instead dive into this one again. Jim Carrey in serious actor mode in another Charlie Kaufman film that's hard to describe to your friends. What a treat this was all the way through. Not a bad ending either.

Finding Nemo Mike Gadd   Carmike Cinema (Apple Blossom Mall)   01 June 2003 What a wonderful movie. Pixar knows how to do it right. Imagine a theater packed full of kids pumped full of soda and popcorn remaining perfectly silent through the quiet parts of the film. They wanted to hear what was going on as much as I did. Who knew that under the ocean looks like a Thomas Kinkade painting? Incredible detail and color and amazing fish-like motion. Larger than life characters, all perfectly voiced. We all loved it.

Happy Texas Mike Gadd   VHS rental   13 October 2002 Love this movie. Have seen it before but wanted to watch it again with some friends who hadn't seen it. We kept missing lines because we were laughing so hard. Steve Zahn was hilarious.

Hart's War Mike Gadd   jumpy video at home   16 June 2003 This movie needed to pick a direction and go with it. It had some good war action and some decent Grisham courtroom stuff, but not enough of either to make it work. I generally like a serious Bruce Willis, but he just stood around looking scruffy. Colin Farrell looked amazingly awake despite being up every night watching out for guys tiptoe-ing around. How do you tiptoe in combat boots anyway?

Haunted Mansion Mike Gadd   dvd rental   14 January 2005 Eddie Murphy doing the silly dad routine. Special effects weren't too bad. A little creepy at times.

Hero Mike Gadd   dvd rental   04 January 2005 The Chinese certainly know how to make a beautiful movie. Not always easy to follow, but at least it looks good. I have a hard time appreciating the need for all the peter pan flying around. How is that supposed to fit into the movie? The fighting is amazing enough without having everyone bounce off of treetops and skipping across the lake.

Hidalgo Mike Gadd   Borrowed video   03 September 2004 No wonder this movie didn't last 2 weeks at the theater. Some nice scenery and all but the story was just pitiful. Wooden acting combined with bad stereotypes. Hurricane coverage is more exciting.

Hitch Mike Gadd   Borrowed dvd   06 August 2005 The first half of this movie was quite fun. We like Will Smith and Doug from 'King of Queens'. Genuine laughter could be heard several times. Then it jumped the shark about half way through. It decided to become a serious movie and forgot it's purpose and direction.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days Mike Gadd   dvd   06 August 2003 I didn't expect to laugh this hard for this movie. It's not often I have to rewind a movie because I've missed some lines due to a good belly laugh. The two guys from the office had more than their share of good lines. I also enjoyed the 'sensitive movie goer' and the 'old concession stand worker'. The wheels started to fall off at the end but overall it was a pleasant experience.

Ice Age Mike Gadd   DVD at home   27 December 2002 Fun for the whole family. We saw it at the theater and the dvd was a christmas present. After the movie was over don't you know we had to watch every minute of bonus material we could squeeze out of disk 2. I enjoyed watching the actors read the parts as much as it did watching the show.

Insomnia Mike Gadd   dvd at home   27 April 2003 I don't know if Al Pacino got his facelift before or after the filming of this movie but he certainly needed something by the time it was over. Visually stunning and enjoyable throughout. Robin Williams still in his 'I can act serious' mode.

Kicking & Screaming Mike Gadd   Local $2 joint   18 June 2005 Took my son to see this as a reward for a hard day's work. I can't say I'm the biggest Will Ferrell fan. He's good for a chuckle or two and at least he tries hard. They actually found some kids who knew how to handle a soccer ball.

Kingdom of Heaven Mike Gadd   Matinsburg Regal Cinema   13 May 2005 Ridley Scott knows how to do a good catapult scene, without a doubt. This movie took a little while to get a plot developed. Once it got going it was a nice ride. Despite the Crusades being the focus of the story there was a distinct absence of preaching. The main characters on both sides were quite sympathetic to the beliefs of the other. Like Gladiator the blood flowed and splashed in buckets. Thanks to Steve for the heads up on the ticket price change. Until we get a better theater in Winchester we’ll have to suck it up.

Left Behind Mike Gadd   dvd at home   07 June 2003 You would think that all the money the writers of this series have made that they could have thrown a little at the movie production studio. The actors seem to be trying hard, but after buying the cameras theres nothing in the budget for special effects (claymation can't be that expensive, can it?). Like the book series though, I imagine we'll stay with the movie sequels just to see how close they stay to the story.

Legally Blonde Mike Gadd   dvd at home   28 June 2003 All right... fine. I watched this movie. I'll fess up. Yes, it was 2 weeks ago. If Ms. Bennett can enter her Tivo'd Oxygen Channel movies then I can stand up and be counted. (No slight intended... don't hit me with your lacrosse stick :}...) This movie was fine I reckon. Not too painful. Don't look for Part II to make an appearance.

Life Aquatic with Steve Zassou Mike Gadd   dvd rental   08 August 2005 I don't know what happened. Maybe I was hoping for a sequel to 'Lost in Translation'. Everything I heard going in was just what I was looking for. Even as I read the user comments on imdb I'm wondering if I need to see it again. It just didn't do anything for me. Sure, I remember Jacques Cousteau and the red hat. I heard the David Bowie songs in Portuguese. Cate Blanchett is a fine actress. Bill Murray can deadpan. 1+1+1+1 didn't equal a good movie for me. I did enjoy the cross-section of the ship as they walked through it. There were a couple of lines that made me smile. Maybe I'll enjoy my other rental more.

Lilo and Stitch Mike Gadd   $2 theater   19 October 2002 Nice story, lousy animation. You see better graphics on Saturday morning on the Cartoon Network. The story worked well enough and the kids certainly enjoyed it.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Mike Gadd   dvd at home   18 March 2003 This was the super extended version dvd we got for Christmas last year. The kids wanted to watch it and we were curious to see what the extra 30 minutes of footage would show. Did a quick FF over just a couple of parts for 'ease of sleep' issues but otherwise they seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. As expected, the additional footage wasn't in the original for a reason. It made the movie experience longer, which was fine, but didn't add anything more than some idle chit-chat. I have no idea what's on the other two dvd's that came in the set. Maybe if there are some bloopers and goofs it would be worth a look. Otherwise I'll just spend my free time waiting for The Matrix 2 in two months.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Mike Gadd   Martinsburg Regal Cinema with the half gallon Coke   28 December 2003 Hard to decide if this or Nemo was the best movie of the year. Certainly nothing wrong with this one. I learned later that Gimli was played by the guy who was the Arab buddy in the Indiana Jones movie. How did they make him seem so short? The attention to detail in this picture was thoroughly impressive.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Mike Gadd   Regal Cinema, Sterling   23 December 2002 Another visual spectacle. Total eye candy. Thoroughly enjoyable, despite sound problems at the theater. Not a chance though that my kids will see this movie before they're 15. Gollum and the Ents steal the show. Gollum is no Roger Rabbit. He's no Jar Jar Binks. He's no digital Yoda. An amazing display of seemless computer technology. True, the Ents looked like political cartoon caricatures...but still... you had to like the way they carried themselves. If trees were going to pick themselves up and march to war this is what it would look like. Decimating the Orc army one or two at a time by stomping, kicking, throwing boulders or smashing heads was delightful to watch. Cheers arose from the theater. The best part was the one Ent dousing his burning head in the water like a cartoon character with his pants on fire jumping in a bucket of water.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended version Mike Gadd   dvd at home   27 December 2003 There's plenty of movie to go around. It took all afternoon to get through it, but I wanted to watch it before going to see part 3 tomorrow. It's amazing the material they had to cut out. The handy booklet was nice that indicated which scenes were new or just extended.

Lost in Translation Mike Gadd   DVD rental   19 June 2004 I'm still looking for someone I know who saw this movie and liked it as much as I did. 'Where was the plot?' and 'Nothing happened!' was their comments. They missed the point entirely. Bill Murray was wonderful here and the direction and writing were on target. The subtle, wry humor was right down my alley, too. Loved the scene in the hospital waiting room where Bill is trying to pass the time communicating with the tiny old person next to him and the two women sitting behind them are trying deperately not to burst out laughing as they eavedrop on the attempted conversation.

Matchstick Men Mike Gadd   Some backwoods theater in Slidel, MS   19 September 2003 Killing time before flying home, this was the best choice out of 4. Nick Cage is back on his game as a con man with a severe case of OCD. Plenty of facial tics and Slingblade-like grunts. What was amusing for me is that some of the stuff they had him doing as a result of his OCD seemed perfectly normal to me.

Men in Black 2 Mike Gadd   DVD at home   13 January 2003 Bought this for the kids at Christmas because they liked it so much at the theater. The first time I saw it I went in with extremely low expectations and it met every one. The first movie is one of my favorites, this one was just forgettable. Still, watching it a second time I found myself chuckling and almost enjoying it. Maybe it's not as bad as I thought. Strange seeing Johnny Knoxville not getting pegged with paintballs. Our favorite character is the guy who keeps getting his head blown off and seeing it grow back on.

Miami Vice: The Pilot Mike Gadd   home video   24 May 2004 Watched this after a recent visit to Miami looking for something familiar. There were too many turned up collars and half shirts to notice anything.

Minority Report Mike Gadd   dvd rental   01 June 2003 A full movie experience. Fun to watch and certainly one to get the brain juices working. There's issues with the whole idea of changing the future after seeing what's coming. Short Tom Cruise sees something bad that's going to happen 36 hours into his future so he runs around trying to stop it from occuring. He's told that he has kicked off a series of events that will lead to this event. Now, if he hadn't seen what the future held then he wouldn't have been running around trying to stop it. Would it have still happened? Who knows. I really enjoyed the eye scanning spiders.

Miracle Mike Gadd   $2 theater with the Jr. High   04 April 2004 One of the best sports movies I've seen. Simple story done well. I appreciated the realistic hockey action.

Misery Mike Gadd   TBS or something like it   29 August 2003 An excellent example of how fine acting can carry a simple story. Bates and Caan do an incredible job. I had to turn the channel for the hobbling scene. Once was enough.

My Big Fat Greek Weeding Mike Gadd   Movie Theater   15 September 2002 Delightful movie. Held up to all expectations. The theater was packed for a 4:00 show. I've never seen that for a movie that's been out this long. I'd recommend this movie to anyone who'd consider it.

National Treasure Mike Gadd   Apple Blossom Mall theater   27 November 2004 Not a horrible movie, but not something you walk out of with any great inspiration. Sort of like a 'DaVinci Code' for beginners. I didn't care for Jon Voight's one dimensional old man. Nick Cage didn't bring anything extra to the set.

One Hour Photo Mike Gadd   dvd at home   31 March 2003 Robin Williams makes a wonderful nutjob. Tightly filmed and intense at times.

Phone Booth Mike Gadd   Taped off of HBO free preview weekend   27 March 2004 Not bad at times, not much to recommend otherwise. Why did Mr. Sniper Sutherland keep cocking the gun even though he only shot it once? Felt bad for the pizza dude.

Pirates of the Caribbean Mike Gadd   Regal Cinema in Martinsburg   14 August 2003 Not a bad movie. Certainly entertaining most of the time. I'm going to have to get over the fact that I'm going to see Frodo, Legolas, and Aragon in other movies where they dress funny. And why does Legolas suddenly look like Doogie Howser? Was it the wispy mustache? I didn't quite understand Johnny Depp's pirate. He's supposed to be the dastardly captain of the Black Pearl? Why the jazz hands all the time? It was fun seeing scenes set up the same way they are on the ride at Disneyworld. Nice job on the special f/x editing with the skeletons showing up in the moonlight.

Robots Mike Gadd   Local $2 joint.   25 May 2005 There were a few good chuckles here and there, thanks mainly to Robin Williams' bot. I did fall asleep once or twice, but that's probably not the entire fault of the movie. There seemed to be an abundance of excretion jokes despite the characters being made out of metal.

Seabiscuit Mike Gadd   $2 theater with a loose 4 year old   26 October 2003 Excellent movie, though too long. The cinematography was fabulous. I might pay a little more attention at the next network broadcast of a horse race.

Signs Mike Gadd   dvd at home   09 May 2003 Why not watch it again? It's one of my favorites. Just about the perfect movie. The story, acting, special fx, etc. was all I could hope for in a movie. I'll be in line for the next M. Night movie.

Something's Gotta Give Mike Gadd   Dvd rental   27 July 2004 Not a bad movie overall. Certainly well acted though the wailing got old after a while. It seemed that Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton's faces were distorted using claymation at times. Something not quite right at watching old people make out either.

Spiderman Mike Gadd   DVD at home   31 December 2002 New Years Eve viewing with the kids. A fun movie not unlike the first Batman. Good special fx with the web swinger sailing through downtown NYC. From what I hear it stayed true to the comic book.

Spiderman 2 Mike Gadd   Lame Mall theater   11 July 2004 Despite all the kid noise in the theater this was a delightful movie experience. Much deeper and broader than the first, this film was just about the perfect summer movie. Added bonus- a preview of 'The Village'.

Spy Kids 3D Mike Gadd   Regular old theater with no legroom   26 July 2003 What a relief it is to get the worst movie I'll see this year out of the way. It just can't get any worse. I actually fell asleep at one point. I remember in the late 70's when they showed The Black Lagoon on tv in 3d. We all ran to 7-11 to get our glasses and watched a total of 20 minutes of the movie because it was so lame. It was better than Spy Kids because at least it had a story. I could NOT wait to get out of there. If Stallone ever gets work again it won't be because he did this one. And Frodo! What are you doing here!? This isn't Mordor! Ugh.

The Bourne Identity Mike Gadd   dvd at home   23 July 2003 If someone had just told me that this movie has almost nothing to do with the book I would have seen it sooner. I had heard from enough people how good it was but none of them had read the book. I also remember how disappointed I was with the tv movie. Richard Chaimberlain is no Jason Bourne. Matt Damon... much better. He nailed the "I'm beating you up, but I don't know how or why I'm doing it" look on his face. The story was fine and I was only mildly distracted looking for Carlos the Jackel to come jumping out from behind a tree. The laser pointer bank code was a nice upgrade from the microfilm in the hip.

The Chronicles of Riddick Mike Gadd   Matinsburg Regal   25 June 2004 Visually full, but difficult to follow. I can't say I cared too much about the characters either. It helps if you're into things like Nuromongers and the underverse.

The Day After Tomorrow Mike Gadd   DVD rental   30 October 2004 Not near as bad as I thought it would be. I was expecting 'Volcano' and got something a little better. It might be a better movie with the sound turned off.

The Incredibles Mike Gadd   Run of the mill movie house   04 December 2004 Pixar hits another home run. Great writing, fun story, humor for all ages... all the things you would expect from them.

The Italian Job Mike Gadd   $2 theater   13 September 2003 Very good movie overall. Nothing really to complain about. Solid acting, good story, car chases with tiny cars. What more could you ask for?

The Lord of the Rings Mike Gadd   dvd at home   03 September 2002 Superb adaptation of the book. I only wish I'd seen it on the big screen.

The Matix Reloaded Mike Gadd   $2 theater   30 August 2003 It's always a treat to be able to watch a movie this good at the theater for the 2nd time. Not having to concentrate on the architect's speechifying left more room to watch the fists flying. The choreography alone of all the people flying around was mind-numbing.

The Matrix Mike Gadd   dvd at home   26 April 2003 A final viewing before enjoying part 2 next month. I don't like giving out perfect scores, but this one earned it with bells on.

The Matrix Reloaded Mike Gadd   Martinsburg Regal Cinema   27 May 2003 Okay. Fine. There didn't need to be so many 'ergo's' and 'concordantly's'. I'll need to see it again to get a better grasp of what they were trying to say. But so what. It kicked butt. The things that went well were better than anything that's been done before. It's funny how it takes an hour or two to get the buzz out of your head when the movie is over and to realize that driving home on the freeway is probably perfectly safe. The guy in the car next to you isn't looking to turn you into swiss cheese and there won't be any kung fu fighting on top of that 18 wheeler. Special kudos to Agent Smith, the Twins, and the Keymaker. More! Bring back Dozer, too, while you're at it. And lose the Dell computer kid chasing after Neo. I'll miss the Oracle, as she died during filming. Jada Pinkett Smith filled in nicely too. I loved the 6th iteration concept; it throws in a nice wrinkle. Bring on November!

The Matrix Revolutions Mike Gadd   Martinsburg theater with nice seats   15 November 2003 Sigh... Where did the magic go? What a disappointment. It made me realize that I really did enjoy part 2. They tried so hard to answer all the questions from earlier that it took forever to go anywhere. Twice I checked my watch before the first hour. Never a good sign. I have a couple of serious questions about the movie that I can't pose here. I wish I had brought a sandwich.

The new Star Wars movie Mike Gadd   Podunk theater in Front Royal   21 May 2005 Certainly better than the last 2 attempts. I enjoyed the tie-ins with the original movie. Darth Vader being put together was the best part. You could substitute a cardboard cutout for Hayden Christensen (Anakin) and I doubt you would notice. Some of his lines are atrocious.

The Pirate movie Mike Gadd   $2 theater   15 November 2003 Went again with the kids this time. I think I enjoyed it a little more now that I know Johnny Depp was inspired by Keith Ritchards for his character. I did regret the free refill of the large popcorn later.

The Ring Mike Gadd   dvd at home   31 March 2003 Visually interesting and not a horrible movie. The mood was enhanced by watching it at midnight. It would have rated about a 4 or 5 except for the last 15 minutes that got my attention.

The Road to Perdition Mike Gadd   dvd at home   29 March 2003 Not exactly the feel-good movie of the year but still well done. The acting was solid (especially the boy - I'm always impressed when a young person acts like a normal young person and not a grown up version of one; see: Signs, The Sixth Sense). The perfect ending would have happened 10 minutes before the actual one.

The Rookie Mike Gadd   dvd at home   11 May 2003 One of the best sports movies out there. I realize it's been jazzed up for Hollywood but at least they used real athletes to throw the ball around. Based on a true story, I remember following this guy's stats in the paper after the days he would pitch. It was quite an achievement.

The Rundown Mike Gadd   rented dvd   03 April 2004 This movie tried to be good. I'd heard good things about it, but it just didn't work. Too many forced one-liners and borrowed plot lines.

The Village Mike Gadd   Martinsburg Regal   30 July 2004 Not as good as Signs, but still quite effective on many levels. I read most of the 'professional' reviews afterwards and was extremely disappointed with how much they give away. Some incredible acting done by Ron Howard's daughter.

Unbreakable Mike Gadd   borrowed video   31 December 2003 Not as good as Signs or Sixth Sense but a nice variation on the theme. The cinematography was too 'artsy' for some and it was slow at times, but I've been looking forward to seeing this for a second time for a couple of years. It was worth the wait.

XXX: The State of the Union Mike Gadd   Family Drive-In   30 July 2005 The 2nd feature in the Drive-in two-fer. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it and it held up. I tried to find something in it to hold on to but it wasn't possible. Why do people watch this stuff? And there might be a sequel? Ugh.

Young Black Stallion Mike Gadd   IMAX at new Air & Space Museum- Dulles   22 January 2004 The IMAX format certainly helped but so did the length of 45 minutes. Nothing original about the movie itself, but the entire class of 6th grade girls seemed to enjoy it. This was part of a field trip and I think most of the parents would have rather been out on the display floor.
