Death Cab For Cutie
We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes (CD)
Death Cab For Cutie's second LP is archetypal quiet-loud post-grunge American rock, only without the loud bits. On the few occasions when the guitars do get turned up a few notches they are just rendered more powerful by their absence elsewhere. Once you realise that a wall of crunching guitars is not about to kick in you can settle down to enjoy what is a rather fine record, combining the skewed guitar pop of Pavement and Sebadoh with the songsmithery of the Pernice Brothers to great effect. Songs like The Employment Pages and 405 are of a sort which can creep into your head and stay there for days.
