The Cherry Orchard

This World Is Such A Groovy Place (CD) Les Disques Riviera
Any doubts that this is a Sixties kind of groovy are quickly dispelled by the references to Barbarella in the wonderfully titled Bubblegum Popgirl, and the chorus of "wows" that peppers the trumpet-fuelled pop heaven of Everybody Knows. There is a Gallic feel to such songs as Feels Like Sunday and Sleeptight, and the joyful guitar pop attitude seems akin to that most frequently found on America's Shelflife record label, yet The Cherry Orchard remain peculiarly English throughout. This World Is Such A Groovy Place is just the record to put a grin on the faces of even the most cynical indie purists, and there can be little doubt that the world will continue to be a groovy place as long as the Cherry Orchard are making records like this.
