Lesson 8 - The Major Triad
Major Triad

The major triad is the foundational triad of music.

Lower Interval: Major Third
Upper Interval: Minor Third
Outside Interval: Perfect Fifth
The triad has strong tonal focus with the perfect fifth and major third intervals both pointing to the root of the triad. The strong tonal focus of this triad makes it the centerpiece of the major key. The three most important chords in the major key are all built on major triads.
