Lesson 6 - Spacing of a Chord
Spacing is similar to voicing except that it refers more to the evenness of the note distribution in the chord. Notes can be spaced evenly throughout the chord. This is called homogeneous spacing. They can also be spaced unevenly. This would be called heterogeneous spacing.Normal spacing in most music is to have a few notes on the low end of the scale and more notes higher up. General speaking, if a chord has more than two notes below the E below middle C, those notes should be spaced at least an octave apart or the chord will sound muddy.
