| Comments: | Just recently I came across an editorial in COAL AGE a mining publication which dealt with ongoing efforts of MITTAL MINING to restore and renovate the mine and the railraod facilities at LAMCO.I worked within the railroad dept.in a supervisory capacity, being in charge of the continous welding method of the rail road track acc.to the "THERMIT"mode.The article of course brought back fond memories, memories I wouldn't want to miss for anything.I was curiuos enough of course to surge for a web side and when I found it and saw the GUEST BOOK I immedeately looked for names from the past. I recognized the names of Ursula and Theo Baron and their children which my wife Marianne as a substitute teacher tought German at the International School, and the name of my friend Rex Priddice, who was kind enough to take in Bobby our dog when we left Liberia.In my profeesion I have seen most countries of the world, but Liberia is still dear to me. Nedless to say that I will make an effort to get in touch with old "LIBERIANS" I still remember.As for you Madam who created the GUEST BOOK my thanks and gratitude also on behalf of my wife.You have done a splendid job indeed. I was very little at time but i still have very strong memories witch is wierd cause i was so small. I would very mutch love to have contact with anyone who remembers me or my family. Ive been looking for a girl her name or if they called her that was "cowbaby" , im also looking for a talii ( if it spells that way) Moisey if it spells that way to. Peter sawier and our houseboy that was called Daniel dont remeber his surname.And lots of other people that i dont remember there names. We were all children at time but maybe you still remember me. Was the girl that used to give the neigbihors children potatoes and you used to laugh and call me " White mans daughter" hehe. It is a real shame about the demise of Liberia and Lamco in particular.I and my wife,Janet still have very fond memories of Yekepa and all the friends we made there,including the Kennedy's,Sampsons,(alas Alan is no longer with us),MacCormac's,Davies,s,Niles,McCleans and so many more,too many to mention.I was foreman in the electrical workshop in Yekepa and had a couple of good bosses in Lennart Hultin and Alan Granfors.Janet and my son Darren spent many a happy hour at the swimming pool so it is really sad to see what happened to it. | Comments: | I loved growing up in Liberia with my younger sister Marjolijn. I miss Liberia very much. Very happy we grew up there. Wish I could still remember names of friends I went to school with. I have a few pictures of the school we went too in Lamco. I believe I also went to school in Bong-Mine.Our Parents Aaf and Harry had a Bar & a restuarant in Buchanan.
