| Comments: | My name is Miama Azelea hoff, and I am from Liberia. I was born at LAMCO Hospital, in Yekepa. I spent most of my childhood there till my parents moved to Monrovia. I now reside in the U.S. due to the civil war. I visited last year after eighteen years, and I can't tell you how ecstatic I was to be back home. I felt like I never left. Everything was still familiar to me, my people, cultures, ocean, even though some place were devastated by the war, being home really had a profound effect on me. I shot a short documentary when I visited the orphanages there and created a non profit organization called SHADES of Liberia. I hoping to travel at the end of the year to finish the documentary. I am hoping to get Oprah's support on it. This organization caters to the displace kids that endure the civil war. I am creating a school that will educate the youths and am doing other project that would reshape their lives. I want the school to be set up in Yekepa. My mother advise me to set it up in Area (A). I am currently working on the web site. I wanted to connect with you because, I remember a lot of Swedish people use to reside there, and I can't tell you how glad I am to have come across your web site. It's awesome to see other people share the same love & ideas about Liberia as a whole, and to see so many diverse background just bring me to tears. I hope to one day visit your country as well. I would like to connect with you regarding this non profit organization, so that others can help reshape and restore the youths of Liberia that wants a better future. I would like to get your assistance on getting help on people that would still like to make an impact. Even though we were separated by war, I know that Liberia will one day regain its status. Please feel free in reaching me at miamabubbles@aol.com or shadesofliberia@ yahoo.com. I will be in touch and be blessed! | Comments: | Heidi, it is good works of people like you that is responsible for making the world smaller, and closer by the day.You and others who came up with the idea for this website deserve special commendation! You're all cool, creative original thinkers. KUDOS! I worked at the LAMCO Buchanan operations in 1976 as information officer and enior information officer, respecively. Almost three years later I was transferred to Yekepa to head Radio LAMCO as controller upon the sudden death of my dear friend, Mr. Obi. I am particularly fond of my tenure in Buchanan where I had the opportunity of receiving new LAMCO employees for orientation about the company's unique culture, and its relations to the host community. I was previleged to meet some of the most wonderful people from all over the world at LAMCO. One such person was lovely Brigit, a nurse who lived in one of the loops(could have been either Loop 5 or 6). Not to mention friends like Richeleau Hoff, Joseph Myers, Frankie, Peal, Steve Sullivan, John Tarr, Edsel Smith, Mabu, Tom Holder, Roosevelt, etc. And of course, my boss who saw it fit to hire me, Mr. T. Nelson Williams! Please any one of you who sees this message should not hesitate to contact me at diesode@mail.com, and/or 917-239-8608. As I have always maintained, my life story would be incomplete without LAMCO Buchanan and Yekepa, and Liberia! So Heidi, I guess you can now imagine how grateful I am to you for your thought-provoking efforts. A BIG THANK IS IN ORDER!!! |

| Comments: | Thanks for such connecting site! I miss those days and hope to reconnect with my workmates and friends across the world. I am still in Liberia and survive the wars and all. I never left but ran from place to place. It is good that I am still alive! I will like to get in touch with my friends: Charles Andrew and Denise Shannon. I graduated a before Charles Andrew from the Booker Washington Institue in KAKATA that was 1968. We then moved on to work for Lamco, yekepa. I worked in the Mechanical department with heavy duty equipment, whilst Charles Andrew worked with Accounts or was an Accountant. I also went for training abroad whilst working in Yekepa...Great Britain..Minnesota...I will appreciate any pictures of me on the good old days. |

| Comments: | I opened the LOG PARK at TROPOI (accept my apology I am A NON LAMCONIAN) and became acquainted with some train drivers & supervisers. My wife and I lived in a wooden house/office (!) - atthe out-set without water or electricity - but eventually got a generator. Got to know BERTIL PERSSON and WILLIE McCULLOCH - a fellow Scot. Lamco train crews made our lives a little easier in our remote situation - and we appreciated the 'WHISTLE' as the train trundled through TROPOI in the middle of the night. This may add to the memories of some of the Lamco employees who knew of our existence in TROPOI. |

| Comments: | I have come on here for selfish reasons I have to admit because I am hoping someone will have some class photos from E school from the following dates and grades. grade 5 73/74 grade 6 74/75 grade 7 75/76 grade 8 76/77 I have looked on the E School page but none of these are posted. If someone has these I would be grateful if they would post them on the E School class photo pages or e mail me them. I had one class photo but seem to have lost it so this is the only way I have to get one of myself. Keep up the good work Heidi. |

| Comments: | Updating my e-mail address again. By the way, just a little while ago I saw the Swedish Wallander-movie "Afrikanen" on Finnish TV. Lamco/Liberia was a part of the story. I instantly recognized the Lamco-sign from the damaged photo shown at the film... |
