Welcome to Switzerland!

Welcome to Basel, Switzerland!

Just taking in the view.

Winter wonderland A snowy Basel zoological garden.
Echt schön, geh?

            Now what?
            Swim little penguins, swim!!!  ....please?

Q.  What's wrong with this picture?
Hey look, there's my house...
A.  Switzerland's in the background. We're in the city centre.

Kyra on land.

Now who was it that compared me
to a seal on land and in the
water when I walk vs. skate....???

I'm cock of the walk!

Why did the peacock cross the road?

Skoda Cup 2003

Febuary 9, 2003.  This is the media pass I got to use for the Canada-Swiss game at the Skoda Cup, one of the higher-level international men's hockey tournaments around here. My coach is a freelance journalist and was covering the earlier Germany-Slovakia game. But with that over and done with, might as well go home, right? No no no, not me. I was impressed at the amount of respect I gained by flashing this little baby.  ^_~

Keep scrolling to see more; check out Kim's page and go to Germany > First two weeks for more (and some repeated) pics.

Oh Canada!
Lining up for the national anthem. It's been so long!

The opening faceoff.
Everyone ready?

Yes, we represent the Toronto Star...
*shifty eyes*

No no, they're actually Swiss.
We Canucks are a popular bunch.
Hometown pride?

So give us the scoop...

The Canadian bench in the closing minutes.
Over the top

A great view of a packed arena at the end of the game as the teams line up for award presentations. We were the visitors by the way. ^_^St. Jakob at its best.

Go team!
A few Slovakian fans above and a crowd of Swiss cheering on their boys.
Hockey isn't widely popular here, but the fans are die-hard.

Stan, Stan he's our boy, if he can't do it, no one...will.

Home, sweet home.

Of all the places to meet a
guy from New Brunswick...

Back to the table of contents.

Let's go home.
