This is the Homepage of DZW, or Danger Zone Wrestling. DZW is the developmental promotion for the WCWF, or World Championship Wrestling Federation.

Darren the Dangerous hired Arn Anderson as the head trainer for the WCWF Developmental Program, which was established in the summer of 2001, but the world got a first look at DZW in October 2001. Besides Arn, the other trainers were David Taylor, Dusty Rhodes, Randy Savage, and Sting. The 20 wrestlers that were part of the DZW were from all over America and the world.  To these 20 future superstars, pro wrestling was a life and it’s a sport. It’s not entertainment. They trained hard each and every day in the WCWF Headquarters in New York. Then every weekend they wrestled as DZW, or Danger Zone Wrestling in the WCWF Arena, formerly the ECW Arena, along with other small arenas in the Northeast. The ECW Arena, of course, became property of the WCWF, when the sale of ECW went through, but it was too small for the huge promotion. People flocked to the DZW Arena to see the future World Champions and Main Events and to see wholesome wrestling, without gimmicks or storylines. Prior to No Halloween Havoc Mercy on WCWF HeAt, in October, the DZW Championship was given to the winner of a Battle Royal, who was Christopher Daniels. The first change occurred when developmental talent, Chaz was released, when he wasn't performing at full capacity, and Chris Kanyon took his place and immediately started a feud with the Champion, Daniels.

In November of 2001, Darren Bongiovanni initiated the DZW Showcase on WCWF SMACKER to show the world what these developmental talents are all about. On the 3rd installment of the Showcase, in December,  in the middle of a match between Allan Funk and Albert, Robbie Brookside walked out and the rest of the DZW Roster followed. Brookside said that they were being used. According to Robbie, the only reason Darren Bongiovanni hired them for his developmental program was because he felt sorry for them and didn’t want them to make $20 a show wrestling in gyms, bingo parlors, and churches, so, he created the DZW, for them to “show their talents”. He said that he was showing his talents in England for many years and he got what he wasn't getting in WCWF. He said that nobody got it. He was talking about respect. He said, that they were stuck wrestling in the opening match of the second string show, wrestling in dark matches, and on HeAt, before a Pay-Per-View, where the fans weren’t even sitting in their seats. Brookside also said that, what makes matter worse is that they were getting treated like jobbers, by coming out to one song from the ‘80s, "Danger Zone" from Top Gun, instead of separate songs. The entire roster agreed with him, even the new DZW Champion, Chris Kanyon. They started a revolt and weren't leaving until they get respect. The trainers came out. Arn Anderson said that Mr. Bongiovanni gave them this opportunity to showcase their talents, and they’re not grateful. According to Arn, his and the rest of the trainers' jobs were not only to teach the wrestlers how to execute a move, or the ring psychology, but to be patient with themselves. They had to learn that nothing came easy. You had to work your way up the ladder and not rush it. He cited then-World Champion, Shawn Michaels who didn’t become a main event star over night. He wrestled through the Texas independents, worked hard, and then became the World Champion. Brookside didn't care. He wanted respect then and now. This brought out Mr. Bongiovanni. Darren said, that there will be 4 spots available in the WCWF, after Starrcade, as a result of the Loser Gets Fired Match between Team Dangerous and The Corporation. So, Fatal 4-Way Matches were set-up with the DZW Stars. The winners of each Fatal 4 Way then wrestled at Starrcade against established WCWF talent  If they win that match at Starrcade, they received a contract with the WCWF and was automatically a part of the show. But, if they lost, then they had to go back to the DZW, but if they cheated, or someone interfered on their behalf, both of them would be fired. And if he saw that they were progressing well, then maybe he would have another group of matches to bring more of them in. That satisfied the DZW Stars. Christopher Daniels, Robbie Brookside, Shawn Stasiak, and Albert won their chance at a WCWF Contract. Brookside and Daniels won their contracts, and have since shined in the WCWF. 2 More Battle Royals were held the night after Starrcade, since they were 2 more spots in the WCWF. Darren the Dangerous won the first one to get his job back, after Ted DiBiase and Shane and Stephanie McMahon stole the WCWF from him. The other Battle Royal was won by DZW Star, Frank Shamrock, who also has shined since he joined the WCWF Roster. When DiBiase took over, he canceled the DZW Showcase, saying that nobody deserves to be on TV, since they are not ready yet. But, Commissioner Ric Flair did allow them to be a part of the 2002 Royal Rumble, since they were 2 spots available. There were separate Battle Royals to determine the 2 spots. They were won by Michael Modest and Scott Vick. Modest did OK, but went back to DZW and won the DZW Championship, while Vick scored an upset and won the Royal Rumble, and eventually won the WCWF World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 2K2 on March 17, and holding it until SummerSlam of that year.

Then Vince McMahon became owner and said that he was restructuring Danger Zone Wrestling. He announced that he came up with a plan to give the DZW wrestlers a chance to showcase their talents. Instead of giving them only 1 match a week on SMACKER!, like the previous owner, Darren Bongiovanni did, he gave them a monthly 2 hour event on UPN on Saturday nights at 8 Eastern, 7 Central. This show, called The Danger Zone, debuted in the middle of May, the night before Judgment Day, on May 18, 2002.  He has searched high and low throughout the country and the best talent that will be the future superstars of wrestling. Also, instead of having all of the wrestlers fight over then-DZW Champion, Michael Modest, he established the DZW Tag Team Championship. The first episode of The Danger Zone crowned the first tag titleholders, which was Victoria's Secret's, the team of Albert and Ron Waterman. Also, trainer, David Taylor decided to go back to England to open up his own training facility. In his place, the WCWF hired former WCWF Superstar, Bob Holly, to go along with Dusty Rhodes, Randy Savage, and Sting, as trainers of the DZW. Mr. McMahon hoped that Holly’s toughness will influence these stars and the world will see the potential WCWF World Heavyweight Champions of the new Millennium. This has come true as Holly as been a huge help in the training of these stars. As of now, the DZW is continuing to show the world what they are all about, and each month on UPN, more wrestlers debut and the fans get excited each week.

DZW NEWS

On the nineteenth episode of The Danger Zone, Brock Lesnar retained the DZW Championship against John Cena and Michael Modest, in a Triple Threat Elimination Match. In other news, Maven won the Survivors #1 Contender's Battle Royal, featuring the winners of the night's Elimination Matches. Also, CM Punk won what everyone thought was the final Showcase Invitational Triple Threat, to earn an opportunity at a DZW Contract, beating Lance Cade & Shelton Benjamin. The 1st winner of the Showcase Invitational was Chris Masters, who got injured preparing for his DZW Debut. So, DZW officials decided to give 20 of the original Invitational Participants a 3rd chance at a DZW Contract. They brought back 20 of the wrestlers that impressed them over the course of the matches, while others who were not impressive weren't chosen.
