McDonald's: Tasty Food, Exploitation and Murder of AnimalsMany people think McDonald's is just like another fast food restaurant that is popping up spontaneously in city centers and supply us good food quickly and comfortably. Some will say, the realization of the American dream. There is some truth in this saying. During the years, McDonald's became the symbol of the globalization and the American worldwide domination, a huge corporate that seeks only profits - whatever stands in its way; They threat in a legal action against anyone who speaks against them, no matter what is the reason and the amount of truth behind the words. They distribute advertising material that contradict reliable article and studies and only repeat and reorder us to come experience the "McDonald's Experience". But below the surface, McDonald commits various and many kinds of crude injustice. Environmental Destruction: A number of articles that were published in "The Guardian", "Today" and at the BBC proved the connection between McDonald's to the destruction of the rain forests in 2 main ways: transforming the forest into arid areas of cattle raising - and in addiction, every food item is being wrapped in papers and unnecessary boxes that are being used for a short time and then trashed. These actions add to the damage of the rain forests and the worldwide waste amount. Nevertheless, McDonald's still advertise itself as an environment friendly company. Health Damage: Dietitians claim that McDonald's sell a fat-rich food that causes cancer, heart problems, fattening and diabetes. McDonald's claims that the scientific research is uncompleted and their food can be part of a balanced diet. Injustice Toward the Employees: McDonald's employ a million of youth around the world at minimum rate and maximum exploitation: complains from the workers include discrimination, lack of rights, manpower shortage, few breaks and low safeness conditions. Injustice Toward the Animals: McDonald's is the world's biggest cattle producer, responsible to the murder of millions of cows every year. In Europe alone McDonald's use half a million chickens every week. All the animals suffer in their short lives; most of them are imprisoned without access to open air, sun and freedom of movement. McDonald's claim they act according to the law and every problem is only a problem of the government. McDonald's also claim it is friendly to the animals. Global Domination: In 1996 McDonald's opened its first restaurant in India. They even reached a country where most of the population is vegetarian, and the cow is a holy animal! McDonald's also expanded to dozens of other countries around the world. This expansion creates a global system where the capital is drained from the local economy to the hands of a small and rich elite. The globalization defines standards in the market and creates an audience with the same needs and wills in the whole world. | |||||||
