A few thoughts about the War in Iraq

My comments and views on the maybe upcoming attack

The Cause

It is actually unbelievable. Pacifists try to convince us that Saddam Hussein has no weapons of mass destruction. I mean he was caught using it. We don't have a concrete proof that he has got rid of them, and dealing with such sly and dreadful dictators, I wouldn't take any chances. There is absolutely no chance this crazy power maniac is arming himself. The sooner he is stopped – the better.

You can of course, say: "Bush has thousands of A-bombs too". The problem is, that one nuke at Saddam's hands is going to cause much more damage than a thousand nukes in Bush's hand. I don't trust him. After what he did to his very own people, he should be thrown out of his position.

The Price

This is the sad part. Thousands of people will lose their life. But Democracy costs blood, and it does worth every single drop of it. Saddam is not a "semi civilized" dictator as Franco and Pinochet. With his iron grip on the rulership, he is not going to step down by himself, and when he dies, nothing good will come out of this. One of his doubles can replace him for several years, and he has taken care for his children's education. Uday learned to execute prisoners when he was 12. His father might be a lollypop next to him.

The Doubt

No I am not a blind man who was caught in the American propaganda machine. I am aware of the facts that Bush's motives are impure. Let us not delude ourselves. The war is going to be more about oil than about ideals. Yet, don't the French and the Russians have interests too? Do they really try to prevent the war for the sake of peace and not to the sake of their investments in Iraq?

I am not supporting the war blindly and wholly. I do it with sadness; doubts do bother me and fill my head. But I do not wake up tomorrow and see Saddam blackmailing the world with WMD. He was to be stopped, at any cost, or reason. Better take a step in the right direction for the wrong reason than going in the wrong direction because of the right reason.
