Dangerous Assassination?

Israel is probably behind the car bomb that killed Izz El-Deen Al-Sheikh Khalil. Assassinating Hamas members outside Israel might be a dangerous crossing of the line. While Israel has made actions outside Israel, assassinating a Hamas member in Damascus is not like assassinating Al Qaeda and Hizbullah members in Lebanon.

The Hamas is different from the Islamic Jihad and other organizations by that they didn't, until today, support attacking Israeli and Jewish targets outside Israel. Today they have changed their policy. Therefore, the contribution of Khalil to terrorism and the damaging effect on the Hamas must be seriously considered against irritating it.

This attack will certainly encourage the Hamas to respond in a new front. Opening this new front was not a wise act unless the assassination indeed harmed the organization's ability. The security fence and the assassination of its West Bank and Gaza leaders have proved themselves justified and beneficial. But assassinating its Syrian leadership might open a new front which will be much harder to contend. Let's hope it will be like the assassination of Ahmed Yassin, that left the Hamas vowing for revenge but unable to produce a suicide attack for 5 months, and not like the Shehada assassination that was followed by deadly reprisals.

Dreams

This is probably the worse nightmare I ever had. It started ok. I went to a soccer or basketball game with my family. Not too realistic, but certainly not science fiction.
Then things deteriorated.

In the half time, almost everybody left for toilets, and then Osama Bin Laden and some terrorists took over the stadium or gym, I don't remember exactly were was it.

Although this was an important match and there were lots of people, and the cost of a single ticket was 30$ (it was considered expensive), there were only 56 people inside when the terrorists took over the place. Osama said they are going to execute 29 people, so only 27 will remain. It was so frightening.

Somehow, he knew the background and name of everyone, so he called each one's name, and decided whether to execute now or not. I wasn't in the line, because for some reason I was in the lowest row, under everybody. Suddenly Osama noticed me, pointed the rifle at me, called my name, but decided to spare me because I am an Israeli and has enough terrorism at home (I have no idea where was this match). Anyway, I think that Osama actually liked me, because later, I reached for my cell phone. He asked me what I am doing with it, and I told him that I am setting it off (I wasn't lying). He didn't shoot me, but said some friendly remark, "good boy" maybe, I don't remember.

Now the kidnappers started to march us. The neighbor's 3 years old son suddenly was there, and he broke from the line of the hostages to get a toy on the ground. My mom tried to stop him. She stopped walking and called him. I moved on, as we moved down some stairs. Because of this delay, there was a gap between me and the guy before me. Those downstairs led us to some kind of a shopping mall. I couldn't find where did the hostages and terrorists go. I realized they went upstairs right next to the staircase I just descended from. I heard my mom moans "oh no". I wasn't sure whether they shot her or the neighbor's son.

Anyway, I decided to take the chance and run into the mall instead of continuing with the terrorists upstairs. I wasn't sure how to reach to the police before Bin Laden gets me. After all, they are numerous and armed. And they know who am I. They also knew who are my parents, so they are surely to be killed. Before I could go farther, I woke up from this nightmare.

This was just a dream, and it wasn't more realistic than others, but it was certainly stronger and more real. I just had to lie in bed several minutes and think about it. I couldn't leave it. I had scary dreams, but nothing close to that. I honestly admit I know know a bit better what did the people of Beslan had through. I wasn't in danger as them, but I did get the feeling. I have to send them my condolences once again. I felt so close to them in the morning.

Hizbullah an Anti-War Movement?

According to a report in Haaretz, an anti globalization and anti war conference will take place in Lebanon this weekend. Te hosters are no other but the Hizbullah.

The PFLP and the Fatah are also represented. It is sad to see that the anti globalization and anti war organizations, that all in all want to improve the quality of life and help people, are cooperating with such terrorists and murderers, whith whom they share nothing but the fanatic hatred of Israel.

Nothing Can Be Said

Northing can be said about the school massacre in Beslan Russia. Hundreds of dead, about half of them children. This is probably the most disgusting terror attack ever.

While I am aware to the Russian crimes in Chechnya, what we had in Beslan is a crime that absolutely nothing can justify. It is the international Islamic terrorism to blame, and despite some critics' notes, not Putin's actions against the Chechens.
