A young man named Felipe Montero, responding to a want ad in the Mexico City newspaper arrives at an old home and
a possibly even older woman. From the inside, the building looks even stranger,
and only the woman’s young niece, Aura, seems totally different. Strange things
begin happening (as they usually do), and Felipe feels a growing relation with
Aura.
This short story is in the creepy Kumfstkopf Binaural genre, and as usual, has some nice sound effects. This
story isn’t one of my favorites, however, so I can’t really tell you that much
about it. What I can say that it is beautifully written in the very uncommon 2nd
person viewpoint, putting you in the main character's shoes, seeing through his eyes. It has
fascinating imagery, and at times, you can almost smell the dried herbs hanging from the ceiling
and the rotting wood inside the house.
