Welcome to the first ever totally complete webpage devoted to Torin's Passage, an adventure game published by Sierra On-Line in 1995, created by Al Lowe, the designer of the Leisure Suit Larry games!
Torin's Passage is a journey through nested worlds, with the player assuming the role of Torin, a teenage boy whose parents have been cursed by a magical spell and taken away by an unknown entity. An old man tells Torin that the only person who could have done this is Lycentia, a sorceress banished to the Lands Below many years ago. Torin sets out to find Lycentia, and on the way, discovering the truth behind his lineage, meeting a captive princess and confronting the infamous Lycentia, accompanied by his elfin companion, Boogle, who has the uncanny ability to transform into various objects.
This game is one of the first of Sierra's adventures to incorporate an online hint system. The player can get a gentle push in the right direction, then wait for a certain amount of time before the next hint can be displayed. It helped me a lot in my journey through the five worlds of the planet Strata.
NEWS (July 2008): Fuzzymonkey41 has posted a playthrough of the game on YouTube. Here is the first video in the series.
NEWS (January 2004): An amazing discovery! Al Lowe, creator of Torin's Passage and many other Sierra games, has
posted the design documents for Torin's Passage on his webpage! It's quite an interesting read, and you can get a peek
at some stuff which didn't make it into the final game. Great stuff. The design document is at the bottom of this page, along with
others from different games. Enjoy, and thanks Al!
