As many of you gamers may have noticed, there are many similarities between Torin’s Passage and J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. The basic plotline, a boy born into a well-known family with his parents killed in his infancy, unaware of their real reason for their deaths, a close friend of the family accused of his parent’s deaths, a scheming, tall, aged wizard with a fetish for snakes (well, not really...), a revealing physical mark on the hero, a quest to confront the person he thinks is responsible for the mischief and discovering that person is actually innocent and a final showdown with magic involved all seem to be similar characteristics.
However, there are also many differences. Torin actually likes his stepparents and he goes through his adventures alone, save Boogle and Leena. I know you fans out there are going to start pelting me with reasons why TP is not like HP, and I don’t mind. I just happened to notice this interesting coincidence and thought I’d post it on this, one of the first full fanpages.
